The best AI lip sync tool depends on what you start with and what you need back. HeyGen suits presenter videos and translating a talking-head video into other languages, and it has a free plan. sync. (Sync Labs) suits re-voicing existing footage with precise mouth shapes, through a per-second plan and API. Hedra suits turning one photo and an audio track into a talking character, with Character-3 clips up to 10 minutes. A multi-engine studio such as Kenerate AI suits people who want to try several lip sync engines with one credit balance and pay per second.
Disclosure: Kenerate AI is our product. We include it because it works differently (it runs 26 talking-avatar and lip sync engines, including Sync Labs' own), and we describe it with the same criteria as the others. We did not run a paid head-to-head test, so there are no scores or rankings here. Vendor facts come from each vendor's own pricing, product and policy pages, read on 23 October 2026. Prices change often, so check before you buy.
Only lip-sync your own face and voice, or someone who has given you clear permission.
What kinds of AI lip sync are there?
"Lip sync" covers three different jobs, and most tools are strongest at one of them:
- Talking photo (photo + audio to video). You upload a portrait and a voice track, and the tool animates the face, and sometimes the head and body, to match the speech.
- Video lip sync (video + new audio). You upload existing footage and new speech, and the tool redraws the mouth to match. sync. calls this "visual dubbing".
- Translation dubbing. The tool translates the speech, clones the voice in the new language and, in some tools, re-syncs the lips in the same step.
Decide which one you need first. A great talking-photo model can be a poor choice for re-voicing a filmed interview, and the other way round.

HeyGen: best fit for presenter videos and translation
HeyGen's pricing page lists a Free plan with 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute, with a watermark, plus access to Avatar IV, one custom video avatar and more than 500 stock presenters. The free plan's FAQ mentions "limited trial access" to lip-synced translation. Creator is $29 a month ($24 billed yearly) with videos up to 30 minutes and translation into 175 languages and dialects. Pro is $49 with the same 30-minute limit, and Business is $149 plus $20 per seat, with videos up to 60 minutes.
Choose HeyGen when you want a finished presenter video or a translated version of a talking-head clip without stitching tools together. Its privacy policy (updated 15 October 2026) says consent for processing face data is collected "through a clear affirmative action during the avatar creation process".
sync. (Sync Labs): best fit for precise lip sync on real footage
sync. focuses on one job: changing what a person in a video appears to say. Its site names three models: sync-3, which it calls its most intelligent lipsyncing model, lipsync-2-pro and react-1. It says the models handle objects in front of the face, multiple faces, several camera angles, low light and fast dialogue, and it offers watermarking that lets you check whether a video was modified with its technology.
Pricing on sync.so/pricing is a monthly fee plus usage per second of video:
| Plan | Monthly | Usage | Longest video |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hobbyist | $5 | $0.05/s | 1 min |
| Creator | $19 | $0.05/s | 5 min |
| Growth | $49 | $0.0475/s | 10 min |
| Scale | $249 | $0.04/s | 30 min |
API access is included on every plan. Choose sync. when you already have footage, such as an interview, an ad or a course, and want the new audio to look natural on the original speaker.
Hedra: best fit for talking characters from one image
Hedra's Character-3 model page describes it as a long-form avatar model: you give it a start image and an audio track (text is optional) and it produces a talking video up to 10 minutes long in 540p, 720p or 1080p, in aspect ratios from 9:21 to 21:9. API pricing on that page is 2.5¢ per second at 540p, 5¢ at 720p and 6.25¢ at 1080p. Hedra's pricing page showed pay-as-you-go API pricing from a prepaid balance, with "no subscription, no seats, no minimum". It did not list studio plans or a free tier when we checked.
Choose Hedra for stylized or expressive characters, such as mascots, illustrated hosts or story characters, where the input is a single image.
What does Kenerate AI offer for lip sync?
Kenerate's Avatar Talk studio does both main jobs in one place: photo + speech to a talking video, and video + new speech to the same video, lips re-synced. It runs 26 engines from several makers and bills per second of speech for most of them (Sync Lipsync 3 on video bills the video length). Avatar Talk works on the free plan with the sign-up credits. A selection, from our avatar model config:
| Engine (maker) | Job | Longest input | Credits per second |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kenerate Avatar | Photo to talking video, body motion | 10 min | 7.5 (720p) / 13.5 (1080p) |
| InfiniteTalk Fast | Photo to talking video | 10 min | 4.5 |
| InfiniteTalk | Photo to talking video | 10 min | 9 (480p) / 18 (720p) |
| Kling Avatar 2 (Kuaishou) | Photo to talking video | 5 min | 16.8 |
| OmniHuman 1.5 (ByteDance) | Full-body performance | 60 s | 48 |
| HeyGen Presenters (HeyGen) | 500 stock presenters, no photo needed, up to 4K | 10 min | 36 |
| Sync Lipsync 3 (Sync Labs) | Photo or video lip sync | 5 min | 40.5 |
| Sync React-1 (Sync Labs) | Re-acts the face with an emotion | 15 s | 50.1 |
| VEED Lipsync 2 (VEED) | New speech on any video | 5 min | 22.5 |
| LatentSync (ByteDance) | Low-cost video lip sync | 5 min | 3 |
Duo engines such as InfiniteTalk Duo and LongCat 1.5 Duo give two people in one photo their own voice tracks, for interviews and podcasts.
For example, a 60-second talking photo costs 270 credits on InfiniteTalk Fast or 450 credits on Kenerate Avatar at 720p. A 5-second test on InfiniteTalk Fast costs 23 credits, which fits in the 25 sign-up credits. Credit packs start at $15 for 1,300 credits on the pricing page.
For translation, Kenerate's separate AI dubbing tool translates a video or audio file of up to 15 minutes with up to 32 speakers into 33 target languages, keeping the original voices, at 3 credits per second. Lip sync is a separate step there: run the dubbed clip through a video lip sync engine in Avatar Talk.
How do you choose the right lip sync tool?
- Start from your input. A photo points to a talking-photo model (Hedra, HeyGen avatars, Kenerate Avatar or InfiniteTalk). Existing footage points to video lip sync (sync., VEED Lipsync, Sync Lipsync 3).
- Check the longest video you need. Free and entry plans cap length: 1 minute on HeyGen Free and sync. Hobbyist.
- Decide if you need translation. HeyGen bundles translation and lip sync. With other tools you translate first, then lip-sync.
- Compare the real price per minute. Per-second prices look small; multiply by 60, then by the number of takes you expect.
- Check watermarks and commercial use on the plan you will actually buy.
- Read the consent rules before you upload anyone's face or voice.
How do you get natural-looking lip sync?
- Use a clear, front-facing face with the mouth visible and good light.
- Use clean speech. Remove music and background noise first. Sync React-1 on Kenerate notes that WAV works best.
- Match the energy. A calm portrait with shouted audio looks wrong. Pick a photo whose expression fits the voice.
- Keep test clips short. Test 5 to 10 seconds before paying for a full minute.
- Re-voice in the same language first when possible. Cross-language mouth shapes are harder.
- Watch the edges: teeth, beards, glasses and hands near the face are where artefacts show.
Is AI lip sync legal and safe to use?
Lip sync is a legitimate tool for dubbing, courses, ads and accessibility, but it can also be used to put words in someone's mouth. Follow three rules:
- Use only your own face and voice, or someone's with clear, written permission. That includes voice clones.
- Never imitate real people such as public figures, colleagues or ex-partners without consent, and never use lip sync to deceive.
- Label AI-edited video where your platform or local law asks for it.
HeyGen collects consent during avatar creation, and sync. offers watermark checks for edited videos. On Kenerate AI, our Terms forbid deceptive impersonation.
Bottom line
There is no single best AI lip sync tool. HeyGen fits presenter videos and translation, with a free plan to start. sync. fits precise re-voicing of real footage, from $5 a month plus $0.05 per second. Hedra's Character-3 fits expressive talking characters from one image, up to 10 minutes. Kenerate's Avatar Talk lets you try 26 engines, including Sync Labs' Lipsync 3 and React-1, from 3 credits per second, with sign-up credits for a first test. Whatever you pick, use your own face or get consent first. For more on turning a portrait into a talking video, see our AI talking avatar and lip sync AI pages.
