Wan 2.1 (February 2025) and 2.2 (July 2025) are open weights; Wan 2.2 Animate followed in September 2025. Wan 2.5 (September 2025) added synced audio; 2.6 (December 2025) 15-second multi-shot clips; 2.7 (April 2026) end frames, 5-character references and editing; 3.0 (August 2026) 30-second clips from text, images, audio, video and even documents.

Open vs hosted

Running Wan 2.1 or 2.2 yourself means a capable GPU and ComfyUI. The hosted versions skip that — and Wan 2.5 onwards is only available hosted.
