Prints
Photo labs publish their own minimums. Walgreens asks for 300 DPI and lists 540 × 360 px as the minimum for a 4×6 print and 5400 × 3600 px for a 24×36 poster [6]; Shutterfly recommends 1600 × 1200 px for 8×10 and 2400 × 3600 px for 24×36 [7]. At the classic 300 PPI, a 4×6 is 1200 × 1800 px and an 8×10 is 2400 × 3000 px — pick Kenerate Upscale and a megapixel size to hit those exactly.
Upscale once, from the best copy
Each round of resizing and JPEG saving adds damage. Real-ESRGAN was trained on exactly that kind of repeated degradation [8], but it still works best on the largest, least-compressed copy you have — upscale once to the final size rather than in several steps.
