Wan 3.0 is not free to use or download. Alibaba's model is closed: its weights are not published, so you cannot self-host it the way you can with Wan 2.2. The free options are limited trials, such as a daily allowance on a third-party platform or a small sign-up credit balance. As of 30 October 2026, the only way to run Wan 3.0 at scale is paid credits, and the cheapest setting is 480p at 15 credits per second.

Is Wan 3.0 open source?

No. Alibaba's Wan 2.2, released in July 2025, is the last video flagship the company published with open weights. The Wan2.2 repository on GitHub lists the released checkpoints under the Apache 2.0 licence, including T2V-A14B and I2V-A14B for 480p and 720p, and TI2V-5B for 720p (Wan2.2 on GitHub).

Wan 3.0 is different. According to The Next Web's coverage of the launch, the weights are closed, and access runs through Alibaba's cloud services. Public beta started in early August 2026, and a wider rollout was announced on 24 August. Aggregator pages we checked say no weights are published on Hugging Face, GitHub or ModelScope, so treat Wan 3.0 as a hosted model only.

Where can you use Wan 3.0 for free?

There are four real routes. Each one has a limit you should check before you rely on it.

OptionWhat you getThe catch
Third-party free tier (fal.ai)Five Wan 3 text-to-video generations per rolling 24 hours, each at 720p, for signed-in users (fal.ai)Text-to-video only. The allowance is set by the platform and can change
Kenerate sign-up credits25 credits on a new free accountThe smallest Wan 3.0 clip (2 seconds at 480p) costs 30 credits, so the sign-up balance does not cover one
Wan 2.2 self-hostingOpen weights under Apache 2.0This is Wan 2.2, not 3.0, and you need your own GPU
Aggregator sign-up creditsSome sites advertise starter creditsThe amounts vary and we did not verify them. Watermarks and preview-only output are common

One warning from our search: some sites that say they offer a free "Wan 3.0 generator" may be running a different model behind the label. After you sign up, check the model name shown on the output and the credit cost.

What does Wan 3.0 cost per second?

Kenerate bills Wan 3.0 by the second and by resolution. The rates below come from our model configuration. One provider credit unit is 300 credits per $1 of provider cost, so each line is the provider's per-second price multiplied by 300.

Model480p720p1080p
Wan 3.015 credits/s30 credits/s60 credits/s
Wan 3 Prime22.5 credits/s45 credits/s90 credits/s
Wan 2.29 credits/s18 credits/snot offered

Those Wan 3.0 rates match the per-second prices of $0.05, $0.10 and $0.20 at 480p, 720p and 1080p reported by The Next Web.

Work out the cost before you generate:

  • Text and image-to-video: you pay for the output seconds. A 5-second 720p clip costs 5 × 30 = 150 credits. A 10-second 1080p clip costs 10 × 60 = 600 credits.
  • Reference video: you pay for the output seconds plus the length of the reference clips, capped at 15 seconds of reference.
  • Edit: you pay for the input seconds plus the output seconds.
  • Extend: you pay only for the new seconds you add.

Wan 3.0 accepts durations from 2 to 30 seconds. Wan 2.2 on Kenerate has a 5-second minimum, so its cheapest clip at 480p is 45 credits.

How do you test Wan 3.0 for the least money?

The cost of a test is the number of seconds times the rate, so most of the saving comes from three choices.

  1. Test at 480p. It costs half of 720p (15 credits per second instead of 30).
  2. Keep the clip short while you test prompts. Use 2 to 5 seconds until the motion and framing look right, then make the final render longer.
  3. Use a fixed start frame when the shot must stay the same. Image-to-video bills the same way as text-to-video, so a good start frame saves retries.

If you only want to check that a prompt works, the third-party free tier is the cheapest route, because it costs nothing and is limited to text-to-video at 720p. If you need a clip with sound, a reference video or an extension, use the paid credits.

Is Wan 2.2 free instead?

Wan 2.2 is the free option if you can run a model yourself. Alibaba released its weights under Apache 2.0, and the GitHub repository lists the checkpoints for text-to-video, image-to-video and speech-to-video at 480p and 720p (Wan2.2 on GitHub). Self-hosting needs a capable graphics card and some setup time, and the license terms still apply to what you publish.

On Kenerate, Wan 2.2 is a paid model, but its rates are lower: 9 credits per second at 480p and 18 at 720p. For a side-by-side look at the two generations, read our Wan 2.2 vs Wan 2.7 vs Wan 3 comparison. If you want to check whether Wan 2.2 has a free route, see is Wan 2.2 free.

Which Wan 3.0 page should you read first?

If you are deciding whether to pay, start with the Wan 3.0 model page on Kenerate. It lists the durations, aspect ratios, reference limits and the credit cost for each mode. For prompt structure, read the Wan 3.0 prompt guide. For the general price of video generation across models, read AI video cost per second in 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wan 3.0 free to use?

No. Wan 3.0 is a closed, paid model. The only free access we found is a limited trial or free tier on a third-party platform, and those limits can change at any time.

Can I download the Wan 3.0 weights?

Not as far as we could find. The Wan 3.0 weights are closed, and the last Wan video model with published weights is Wan 2.2 (The Next Web).

Does Kenerate give free credits?

New free accounts receive 25 credits at sign-up. That balance does not cover the smallest Wan 3.0 clip (2 seconds at 480p, 30 credits) or the smallest Wan 2.2 clip (5 seconds at 480p, 45 credits), so you will need to top up before generating with either model.

How long can a free fal.ai Wan 3 clip be?

The fal.ai page describes five free generations per rolling 24 hours at 720p, for text-to-video. It does not present a fixed clip length in the text we checked, so confirm the length in the platform before you rely on it (fal.ai).

What is the cheapest Wan 3.0 setting?

The cheapest setting is 480p at 15 credits per second. A 2-second clip at that setting costs 30 credits.

Is Wan 2.2 free to use?

Its weights are free to download under Apache 2.0, so you can run them yourself. On Kenerate, Wan 2.2 uses credits, starting at 9 credits per second at 480p with a 5-second minimum.

Are videos from Wan 3.0 safe to use commercially?

Check the terms of the service you use. Open-weight Wan 2.2 is licensed under Apache 2.0, but the terms for hosted Wan 3.0 output depend on the provider. Do not assume rights to a model's output without reading its terms.

Why do some free Wan 3.0 sites look suspicious?

Some pages use the name Wan 3.0 for a different model, and aggregator pages often list conflicting details. Check the model name on the output, read the terms and compare the credit cost with the rates above.

  • Wan 3.0 costs 15, 30 or 60 credits per second at 480p, 720p or 1080p.
  • Test at 480p with short clips, then render the final version at the length you need.
  • Wan 2.2 is the free-to-download option if you can run a model yourself.
