Yes. CapCut has a built-in AI video generator: in the editor you open Media → AI media → AI video, type a prompt (or add an image) and the clip lands on your timeline, and since spring 2026 CapCut has been rolling out ByteDance's Dreamina Seedance 2.0 model inside it for paid users. Canva, Adobe, YouTube, TikTok and Filmora also have AI video features in 2026, but they differ a lot in which model they run, how long the clips are and whether you pay.

This guide answers the "does X have an AI video generator" question for each of the big apps, as of 22 October 2026, with the official source for each claim. At the end you will find where a standalone multi-model generator fits if you outgrow the built-in tools.

Does CapCut have an AI video generator?

Yes, and it is the most complete of the editing apps. CapCut's AI video tools sit inside the normal editor, so a generated clip is just another layer you can cut, caption and score.

What CapCut offers in 2026:

  • Text to video. In the desktop editor: Media → AI media → AI video → Text to video, write a prompt, choose a model and press Generate. A June 2026 walkthrough by VideoDubber describes the clips as short, so longer videos are built by stitching several generations together.
  • Script to video. Paste a script and CapCut suggests visuals, adds an AI voice-over and assembles a rough cut.
  • Dreamina Seedance 2.0. CapCut's own newsroom says Seedance 2.0 makes clips of up to 15 seconds in 6 aspect ratios, from text prompts, images or reference videos, with synced audio. TechCrunch reported on 26 March 2026 that the phased rollout started with paid users in Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam; CapCut's update log then lists Europe, Japan and, on 7 April 2026, the US.
  • Safeguards. At launch, CapCut restricted making videos from images or videos that contain real faces, and it adds invisible watermarking plus C2PA Content Credentials to AI-generated content.

Is CapCut's AI video generator free?

Partly. Free accounts get a limited number of generations and watermarked exports, according to the VideoDubber guide; premium models and longer durations need CapCut Pro or extra credits. CapCut's Seedance 2.0 announcement describes the rollout as being "for paid CapCut users". Credit costs change often, so check the price shown in the generate panel before you press the button.

Which other apps have an AI video generator?

Here is the short answer for each app people ask about. "Model" is what the company says powers the feature; we only list a model where an official page or a launch report names it.

The pattern: editing apps (CapCut, Canva, Filmora, Adobe) license a frontier model and wrap it in their editor, while social apps (YouTube, TikTok) offer a free, lower-resolution version built for their own feed.

Does Canva have an AI video generator?

Yes. Canva added a feature called "Create a Video Clip" in 2025 that runs Google's Veo 3 model. You type a prompt and get an 8-second clip with synchronised audio, which opens in the Canva editor so you can add text, music and brand assets. At launch it was limited to paid plans (Pro, Teams and Enterprise), as reported by TechRadar and Tom's Guide.

What it is good for: a quick animated background or b-roll shot inside a design you are already building. What it is not: a tool for long scenes or precise control over camera moves. Canva has not announced a move to longer clips, so check Canva's plan page for current limits. If Canva's limits frustrate you, we compared options in the best free Canva alternatives.

Does Adobe have an AI video generator?

Yes. Adobe Firefly has a Generate Video tool on the Firefly web app, and the same tech appears in Premiere (Generative Extend) and Adobe Express. It does text to video and image to video, with camera-angle and motion controls.

Two things make Adobe different:

  1. Its own model. The Firefly Video Model is trained on licensed and public-domain content, and Adobe positions it as safe for commercial work.
  2. Partner models. Adobe's help page on partner models lists third-party video models you can pick inside Firefly. A July 2026 snapshot of the list included Google Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Luma Ray3, Runway Gen-4.5 and OpenAI Sora 2. Adobe tells users to read each partner's terms before commercial use, because it cannot vouch for their training data.

Every generation spends generative credits, and the cost depends on the model, length and resolution. Adobe ran a promotion with unlimited video generations on some plans from 23 January to 18 March 2026; that window has closed. Looking for something cheaper per clip? See our Adobe Firefly alternative page.

Does YouTube have an AI video generator?

Yes, and it is free. In September 2025 YouTube announced that Veo 3 Fast, a custom version of Google DeepMind's Veo 3, generates clips with sound directly inside YouTube Shorts. YouTube says it runs at 480p for lower latency, and it rolled out first in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

How to use it on your phone:

  1. Open the YouTube app and tap the Create (+) button, then choose Shorts.
  2. Tap the sparkle icon in the top-right corner of the camera.
  3. Type a prompt describing the scene and wait for the clip.
  4. Add it to your Short, then trim, add text or combine it with your own footage.

YouTube also announced "Edit with AI", which turns your camera roll into a first-draft video, but that is an editing assistant rather than a generator. Shorts clips at 480p are fine for a phone feed, not for a 1080p upload. Creators who need sharper clips usually generate elsewhere; we covered the tools in what AI video generator YouTubers use.

Does TikTok have an AI video generator?

Yes, in a narrow form. TikTok launched AI Alive on 13 May 2025. It turns a still photo into a short moving video for TikTok Stories: open the Story camera, pick a photo, tap the AI Alive icon and describe the motion you want (or use a suggested prompt).

Limits worth knowing:

  • It works from a photo, not from a text prompt alone.
  • It is built for Stories, so it is not a general text-to-video tool for your main feed.
  • Every AI Alive video gets an AI-generated label and C2PA metadata, and TikTok says it moderates the photo, the prompt and the result.

TikTok has not said which model powers AI Alive. If you want full text-to-video clips sized for TikTok, see our free TikTok AI video generator page.

Does Filmora have an AI video generator?

Yes. Wondershare Filmora has AI text-to-video and image-to-video, and its own product pages say the generator integrates Google's Veo 3, with newer pages mentioning Veo 3.1 for its AI storytelling tool. Filmora offers a "normal" mode with negative prompts and reference clips, and a Veo mode for faster cinematic results. Generations use Filmora's AI credits on top of the editor subscription. Filmora's own pages are marketing copy, so check the current model list in the app.

Why do built-in AI video generators feel limited?

Built-in generators are convenient, but they share the same trade-offs:

  • One model, chosen for you. Canva runs Veo, YouTube runs a fast Veo variant, CapCut leans on Seedance. If that model is bad at your shot (hands, text, fast motion, a stylised look), you have no second option.
  • Short clips. 8 seconds is the norm for Veo-based tools; Seedance 2.0 in CapCut reaches 15 seconds.
  • Low resolution on free tiers. YouTube's free Veo 3 Fast is 480p.
  • Credits you cannot compare. Each app prices AI in its own credits, so it is hard to know what a second of video really costs.

Where does a multi-model AI video generator fit?

A standalone generator is the step up when you want to choose the model per shot and see the price per second up front. On Kenerate's AI video generator you pick from several video models in one studio and export the clip to CapCut, Canva or any editor you already use. These are the rates from the app's credit table as of 22 October 2026:

Model on KenerateMax clip lengthNative audioCredits per second
Seedance 2.015 sYes72 at 720p
Seedance 2.530 sYes108 at 720p
Wan 3.030 sYes (toggle)15 at 480p, 30 at 720p
MiniMax H315 s—10 at 480p, 20 at 768p
Veo 3.18 sYes120 with sound

Plans start at $15 for 1,300 credits (Starter), and video needs a paid plan. A 6-second Wan 3.0 draft at 480p costs 90 credits, so you can test a few prompts cheaply and then re-render the best one on Seedance or Veo.

How do you use an outside generator with CapCut?

  1. Write the shot as one sentence: subject, action, camera move, light. Example: "a barista pours latte art in slow motion, close-up, morning window light".
  2. Generate a short draft on a cheap model and resolution (Wan 3.0 at 480p).
  3. When the motion looks right, re-render it on the model you want for the final (Seedance 2.0 for product and dialogue shots, Veo 3.1 for realistic people).
  4. Download the MP4 and import it into CapCut with Media → Import.
  5. Cut it on the timeline and add captions, music and your logo as usual.

If you are leaving CapCut altogether, our CapCut alternative page compares what you gain and lose.

Which one should you use?

  • You already edit in CapCut: use its AI video panel for quick clips; check if Seedance 2.0 is live in your country.
  • You design in Canva: "Create a Video Clip" is the fastest way to drop an 8-second Veo shot into a design.
  • You need commercially safe footage: Adobe's own Firefly Video Model is the most conservative choice.
  • You post Shorts and want free: YouTube's built-in Veo 3 Fast, accepting 480p.
  • You want to animate a photo for Stories: TikTok AI Alive.
  • You want to pick the model, length and resolution per shot: a multi-model generator, then finish the edit in the app you know.

The built-in tools are a good first step. Once you care about which model renders your shot and what each second costs, generate separately and keep your editor for what it does best.
