No, Veo 3 is not free in October 2026. The free Gemini app can't generate video at all, and Google now says Gemini Omni is replacing Veo in the Gemini app, so even the paid Google AI plans (from $4.99 a month in the US) point you to Omni rather than Veo. Developers have lost the free-ish routes too: Google shut down the Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast models in the Gemini API on June 30, 2026 and the Veo 3.1 preview endpoints on October 22, 2026. Every remaining way to use Veo costs money.

Below is what each Google plan includes, what happened to Veo in the Gemini app and API, what "free" Veo offers really were, and the cheapest legitimate way to use Veo 3.1 today, including on Kenerate AI.

Google's plans and limits below were read from gemini.google and Google's help centre, and the API details from ai.google.dev, on 23 October 2026.

Is Veo 3 free in 2026?

Not on any official Google route. Here's how each one looks today:

  1. Free Gemini app: Google's "Gemini Apps limits & feature availability" page lists video generation as available on Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra, and not without a Google AI plan.
  2. Paid Gemini app: video generation is included, but Google's video page says "Gemini Omni will replace Veo in the Gemini app" and describes Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash as the model replacing Veo 3.1 there.
  3. Gemini API: Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast reached their shutdown date on June 30, 2026, and the Veo 3.1 preview models on October 22, 2026. The API pricing page now lists Gemini Omni Flash, on the paid tier only.
  4. Google's enterprise platform: Google points API users to the generally available Veo models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. That's pay-as-you-go cloud billing, not a free tier.
  5. Third-party apps that run Veo 3.1 (Kenerate AI is one) charge for it too.

So when someone asks "is Veo 3 free?", the honest answer is no. You can pay a small amount for Google's newer video model in the Gemini app, or pay per clip for Veo 3.1 through an app or the cloud.

How much do Google AI plans cost? (US prices, 23 October 2026)

From Google's subscriptions page for the US:

PlanPriceVideo generation in GeminiGoogle Flow creditsGemini app usage
Free$0Not includedNone listedStandard limits
Google AI Plus$4.99/moYes2002x Free
Google AI Pro$19.99/moYes1,0004x Free
Google AI Ultra$99.99/moYes10,0005x Pro
Google AI Ultra (higher tier)$199.99/moYes25,00020x Pro

The Flow credits on every paid plan are described as giving "access to Gemini Omni Flash"; the plans page doesn't name Veo. Prices and benefits differ by country (the same page in India showed rupee prices), and Google says plans and Gemini in Gmail and Docs are for ages 18 and over.

Does Google offer a Veo 3 free trial?

Not on the US plans page when we checked it on 23 October 2026: it listed prices and a "Get started" button for each plan, but no free-trial offer. Google has run trials and promotions before (third-party guides describe one-month trials, student offers and phone bundles that included Google AI Pro), but they come and go and depend on your account and country. If you see one, read the terms: most convert into a paid monthly plan unless you cancel.

Also keep in mind that because Gemini Omni is replacing Veo in the Gemini app, a Google AI trial today may give you Omni rather than Veo 3.

What happened to Veo 3 in the Gemini API?

Google's Gemini API deprecations page lists these Veo shutdowns:

Model IDReleasedShutdownGoogle's suggested replacement
veo-3.0-generate-001 (Veo 3)Sep 9, 2025Jun 30, 2026Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, or GA models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform
veo-3.0-fast-generate-001 (Veo 3 Fast)Sep 9, 2025Jun 30, 2026Same as above
veo-3.1-generate-previewOct 15, 2025Oct 22, 2026Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash
veo-3.1-fast-generate-previewOct 15, 2025Oct 22, 2026Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash
veo-3.1-lite-generate-previewMar 31, 2026Oct 22, 2026Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash

The Veo model page in the same docs marks all of these as deprecated and tells developers to migrate to Gemini Omni Flash (gemini-omni-1.1-flash) or the GA models on the enterprise platform "to avoid service interruptions". On the Gemini API pricing page, Gemini Omni Flash is billed by output tokens, which Google says works out to about $0.10 per second of 720p video, on the paid tier only.

What does "free" really include with Google's video tools?

Even on a paid plan, a few limits apply:

  • Usage limits, not a clip count. Google's help page says Gemini app limits are compute-based: they depend on the prompt, the model and the length of the chat, refresh every five hours, and stop when you hit a weekly limit. It rates video generation as "High" cost and says video "generally requires the most usage".
  • SynthID watermark. Google's Veo docs say videos made by Veo are watermarked with SynthID, an invisible marker you can check with Google's verification tool. Expect it on every Veo clip, whichever app you use.
  • Blocked prompts aren't billed (API). The Veo docs say you won't be charged if a video is blocked from generating.
  • Ages and regions. Google's plans page says Google AI plans are for ages 18+, and features vary by tier and country.

What is the cheapest legit way to use Veo 3 now?

  1. Decide whether you need Veo specifically. If you just want short AI videos inside Gemini, Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month is the cheapest Google route, but you'll be using Gemini Omni, not Veo 3.
  2. For Veo 3.1 itself, pay per clip. Use an app that still runs Veo 3.1, or Google's enterprise platform if you're a developer. Don't buy a monthly plan just to try a few clips.
  3. Draft on Veo 3.1 Fast. It shares Veo 3.1's controls at a much lower price per second.
  4. Keep drafts short. Veo makes 4, 6 or 8 second clips. Test at 4 seconds, then re-run the winner at 8.
  5. Turn sound off for b-roll. Silent Veo clips cost less on most platforms, including Kenerate.
  6. Skip "free Veo 3" sites and unofficial workarounds. With the API previews shut down, sites promising free Veo 3 are usually running another model or an expired promotion.

Can you use Veo 3 on Kenerate AI?

Yes, on a paid pack. On 23 October 2026 the Kenerate AI video studio listed Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Fast, Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast, plus Google's newer Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash. Prices come from our own model settings:

Model on Kenerate AIClip lengthResolutionCredits per second8 s with soundAbout, on the $15 pack

Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash3–10 s360p, 720p, 1080p, 4K9 / 30 / 45 / 90240 at 720p$2.77

A 4-second Veo 3.1 Fast draft with sound costs 180 credits (about $2.08 on the Starter pack). Veo 3.1 and Veo 3.1 Fast also support up to 3 reference images, first and last frame, and +7 second extensions; Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast take a start frame only. Since Google has retired Veo 3 in its own API, we suggest starting new work on Veo 3.1 or Veo 3.1 Fast.

How free and paid work on Kenerate:

  • 25 free credits on signup, usable on the free-plan image models such as Flux 2 Dev and Qwen Image 3.0.
  • Video is paid only. The free plan can't generate video, so the 25 free credits won't cover a Veo clip.
  • One-time packs, no subscription, from $15 for 1,300 credits; credits don't expire. Current packs are on the pricing page.

You can open Veo from the Google Veo 3.1 page, compare it with other models on our Veo 3 alternative page, or read how Google's new model stacks up in Gemini Omni Flash vs Veo 3.1.

Verdict

Veo 3 is not free in October 2026. The free Gemini app has no video generation, the paid Gemini app is switching from Veo to Gemini Omni, and Google has shut down Veo 3 and the Veo 3.1 previews in its developer API. The cheapest Google option for AI video is Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month, which gets you Omni rather than Veo. If you want Veo 3.1 specifically, pay per clip: draft on Veo 3.1 Fast at 4 seconds, then spend on full Veo 3.1 only for the shots you keep.

Google plan prices, limits and API dates were read from gemini.google, support.google.com and ai.google.dev on 23 October 2026, and Kenerate AI's credits from its own model settings and pricing on the same date. All can change.
