A Gemini AI photo prompt is a short instruction you paste into Gemini together with a photo of yourself, such as "turn this into a 1990s Bollywood saree portrait, keep my face exactly the same". Gemini edits the picture with Google's Nano Banana image models. Below are 44 copy-paste prompts grouped by the trends people actually share: retro saree, vintage Bollywood, Polaroid, 3D figurine, couple portraits, LinkedIn headshots, black-and-white, retro decades, travel and art styles. Every prompt is written for editing your own photo, and each one also works with the same Nano Banana models on Kenerate. Updated 23 October 2026.
What is a Gemini AI photo prompt?
It is a photo-editing instruction, not a text-to-image prompt. You upload a picture first, then describe what should change and what has to stay the same. That second part matters most. If you leave it out, the model is free to "improve" your face, and the result stops looking like you.
The prompts run on Google's Nano Banana family. Google's Gemini help page says the Gemini app uses Nano Banana 2 when you pick the Flash or Pro model, Nano Banana 2 Lite on Flash-Lite, and Nano Banana Pro for Google AI plan subscribers (Gemini Apps Help). Google released Nano Banana 2.1 on 6 October 2026 as the update to Nano Banana 2 (Gemini API docs).
Every prompt below follows the same pattern:
[what to change] + [style, setting and light] + [keep line]
The keep line is usually "Keep my face, facial features, skin tone, expression and hairstyle exactly the same." Copy it into any prompt you write yourself.
Which Gemini photo trends are popular right now?
These are the trends that keep coming back in prompt round-ups and news coverage through 2025 and 2026. TechCrunch reported in September 2025 that India was the top country for Nano Banana use, with retro Bollywood looks, the AI saree edit, landmark selfies and the desk figurine as the big local trends (TechCrunch). Prompt round-ups updated in October 2026 add couples, holiday portraits, retro film looks and stylised art.

How do you use a Gemini photo prompt?
- Pick a clear photo of yourself. Face visible, no sunglasses, even light, one person unless you are doing a couple edit. A sharp phone photo is enough.
- Open the editor. In the Gemini app, start a chat, attach the photo with the plus button and paste the prompt. On Kenerate, open Edit Studio, upload the photo, choose AI Edit and pick Nano Banana 2.1, 2 or 2 Fast.
- Paste a prompt and keep the keep line. Replace anything in [brackets] with your own details.
- Change one thing at a time. If the saree is right but the light is wrong, ask only for the light change in a follow-up.
- Check the face before you share. If it drifts, re-run with "keep my face exactly as in the original photo" at the start of the prompt instead of the end.

Which trends should you skip?
Polaroids with celebrities. One of the most shared 2025 variants pastes you next to a famous person. Don't do it. It puts a real person's face in an image they never agreed to and can mislead people who see it. Kenerate's terms ban deceptive impersonation and make you responsible for other people's privacy and publicity rights, so this guide has no celebrity prompts. Prompt 8 is the safe version: a Polaroid with a friend who said yes.
"Hug my younger self." This trend mixes your current photo with a photo of you as a child. Kenerate's filter blocks prompts that mention children, minors or ages under 18, and Google's help page says image editing in the Gemini app isn't available to users under 18 (Gemini Apps Help). Keep every edit to adults.
Other people's photos. Partners, friends and colleagues only with their permission. Never edit a stranger's picture.
Is it safe to upload your selfie to Gemini?
It is reasonably safe if you know what happens to the file. Google's Gemini Apps Privacy Hub says some chats are reviewed by people to improve Google services, reviewed chats are kept for up to three years after being disconnected from your account, and even with Keep Activity off, chats are kept for 72 hours (Gemini Apps Privacy Hub). Google's own advice is not to share anything you wouldn't want a reviewer to see.
Practical privacy tips:
- Crop before you upload. Remove house numbers, car plates, ID cards, school or office badges and anything with your address.
- Strip location data. Share a screenshot or export without location so GPS data isn't in the file.
- Turn off Keep Activity in Gemini if you don't want uploads used to improve Google's models, or use a Temporary chat.
- Use one photo per edit. Don't upload a whole gallery for a single portrait.
- Delete what you don't need. Remove old chats in Gemini, and delete edits from your history on any tool you use.
- Watch for invented details. In 2025 a user reported that a saree edit added a mole that wasn't in her original photo. Check the result before you post it, and don't treat it as a real photo of yourself.
Do Gemini photo edits have a watermark?
Yes. Google says all images generated by its Nano Banana models carry an invisible SynthID watermark (Gemini API docs). You can upload an image to the Gemini app and ask whether it was made or edited by Google AI. Gemini checks for SynthID and answers, though a very small edit or a very simple image may not carry a detectable mark (Gemini Apps Help — Verify AI images). TechCrunch also reported in 2025 that the Gemini app adds a visible diamond-shaped watermark.
Kenerate adds no visible watermark of its own, but the Nano Banana models it runs are Google's, so expect the SynthID signal to be in those images too. Don't try to remove it. It is there so people can tell an edited image from a real photo, and that is the honest way to share an AI portrait.
Can you use these prompts on Kenerate?
Yes. Kenerate runs the same Nano Banana family, and the prompts above work as written. Prices below are from Kenerate's model settings as of 23 October 2026:
| Model on Kenerate | Credits per image | Images per edit | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano Banana 2.1 | 21 at 1K, 31.5 at 2K, 42 at 4K | Up to 14 | Image Studio and Edit Studio |
| Nano Banana 2 | 14 | Up to 14 | Image Studio and Edit Studio |
| Nano Banana 2 Fast | 8 | Up to 14 | Image Studio and Edit Studio |
| Nano Banana (original) | 8 | Up to 10 | Image Studio |
New accounts get 25 free credits. In Edit Studio (after you verify your email), that covers one Nano Banana 2.1 edit at 1K or three Nano Banana 2 Fast edits. In Image Studio, the free plan covers the Flux 2 and Qwen Image models, so Nano Banana there needs a paid plan or credit pack.
Which one to pick:
- Nano Banana 2.1 for portraits where the face has to hold, couples and figurines. Google describes it as stronger at subject consistency than earlier versions.
- Nano Banana 2 Fast for quick style tests such as Polaroids, black-and-white and art styles.
- Up to 14 images lets you add a second person for a couple edit, or an outfit or background reference.
Kenerate's Nano Banana image editor page shows real before-and-after edits, and the Nano Banana prompts library has 26 more prompts with their real outputs. For a dedicated tool per trend, see the Polaroid AI photo generator, Action Figure AI and the AI headshot generator. If you are new to the models, read how to use Nano Banana first.
How do you keep your face the same in a Gemini edit?
- Upload a good source. Front or three-quarter view, eyes visible, no heavy filters. The model can only keep what it can see.
- Say what stays. "Keep my face, facial features, skin tone, expression and hairstyle exactly the same" works better than "keep me".
- Describe the change, not a new person. "Change the outfit to a red saree" holds the face better than "a beautiful woman in a red saree".
- Make small steps. Do the outfit first, then the background, then the light, each as a follow-up edit.
- Don't ask it to beautify. Words like "flawless", "perfect skin" or "slimmer" push the model to change your face.
- Start over when it drifts. After many follow-up edits, faces can slowly change. Go back to the original photo and run the final prompt once.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Gemini AI photo prompt?
There is no single best one, but the prompts that work all describe the change, the setting and the light, then end with a line telling Gemini to keep your face, skin tone, expression and hairstyle. The retro saree, Polaroid and desk figurine prompts are the most reliable starting points.
Is Gemini photo editing free?
Gemini has a free tier with a daily image quota. Google's help page says downloads are 1K without a Google AI plan and 2K with one, and Nano Banana Pro needs a Google AI plan. On Kenerate, new accounts get 25 free credits, enough for one Nano Banana 2.1 edit in Edit Studio.
Which model does Gemini use to edit photos?
Google's Nano Banana image models. In the Gemini app that means Nano Banana 2 on Flash or Pro, Nano Banana 2 Lite on Flash-Lite, and Nano Banana Pro for Google AI plan subscribers. Google released Nano Banana 2.1 on 6 October 2026 as the update to Nano Banana 2.
Why does Gemini change my face?
Usually because the prompt doesn't say what to keep, the source photo is small or blurry, or there have been many follow-up edits. Add a full keep line, use a sharp front-facing photo, and restart from the original photo if the face drifts.
Can I make a Polaroid with a celebrity?
Don't. It places a real person in a photo they never agreed to and can mislead people. Kenerate's terms ban deceptive impersonation and make you responsible for other people's privacy and publicity rights. Make a Polaroid of yourself, or with a friend who agreed.
Can I use these prompts for a couple photo?
Yes, if your partner agreed. Upload one photo of both of you or one photo of each person, and tell the model to keep both faces exactly as in the originals. Nano Banana 2.1 on Kenerate accepts up to 14 images in one edit.
Are Gemini edited photos watermarked?
Yes. Google embeds an invisible SynthID watermark in every image its Nano Banana models make, and you can check an image in the Gemini app. Kenerate adds no visible watermark, but the SynthID signal comes from Google's model.
Can I edit photos of my children with these prompts?
No. Kenerate blocks prompts that mention children, minors or ages under 18, and Google's help page says image editing in the Gemini app isn't available to users under 18. These prompts are for adults editing their own photos.
