Quick answer
How do you translate Indonesian voice to English?
To translate Indonesian voice to English, upload or record the speech in an AI dubbing tool and choose English. On Kenerate AI, the ElevenLabs engine detects the Bahasa Indonesia, translates it and re-voices each speaker, up to 32 of them, in English with a clone of their own voice, so the output is spoken English, not subtitles. Files run up to 15 minutes (audio 50 MB, video 500 MB) at 3 credits per second of the source. It dubs saved recordings and is not a live interpreter.

Spoken English, English text, or a live interpreter?
Search for an Indonesian voice translator and you get three different kinds of tool. Here is what each one is for.
| Dub (this page) | Transcript or captions | Live interpreter app | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Voice notes, interviews, lessons and videos people listen to | Reading along or quoting the Indonesian | Talking face to face right now |
| You get | An English audio or video file in the same voice | English text | A phone voice reading each sentence |
| Speaker's voice | Kept, cloned per speaker | Original Indonesian stays | Not kept |
| How on Kenerate | AI Dubbing → English | Not offered: Auto Subtitles captions the spoken language and doesn't translate | Not offered: use a phone app such as Google Translate's conversation mode |
To read English on a video, dub it to English first, then add Auto Subtitles (up to 4 minutes) to the English version. Captions are burned in; there is no subtitle file export.

Tips
Better Indonesian to English translations
What helps most with spoken Bahasa Indonesia.
'Dia' means he or she, so English has to guess the gender. Check every he and she in the result.
Verbs don't change for tense. Saying 'sudah', 'sedang' or 'akan', or a time such as 'kemarin', tells the translation when it happened.
'Kami' leaves the listener out and 'kita' includes them, but English has only 'we'. Rephrase in the script if that difference matters.
Casual Jakarta speech ('gue', 'lo', 'nggak') and slang are the usual trouble spots. Slower, clearer speech helps.
Pin Indonesian rather than Malay if the auto-detect gets it wrong: the two are close, and both are in the source list.
Javanese and Sundanese aren't source languages, so long passages in them won't translate well. Keep the recording in Bahasa Indonesia.
FAQ
Indonesian to English voice translation: questions
9 questions
How do I translate Indonesian voice to English?
Upload or record the Indonesian in Kenerate's AI Dubbing, leave the spoken language on Auto-detect or pin Indonesian, choose English and download. You get English speech in the speaker's own voice.
Link to this answerDoes it translate live, while I talk?
No. It dubs saved files and recordings, so you wait for the result instead of hearing English as you speak. For a live conversation, use a phone app such as Google Translate's conversation mode.
Link to this answerDoes it give text or audio?
Audio. You get spoken English in the same voice, not a text translation. If you want to read English on a video, dub it first and then add Auto Subtitles to the English version.
Link to this answerCan I translate English voice to Indonesian too?
Yes. Indonesian is one of the 33 target languages and English is a source language, so upload English speech and pick Indonesian.
Link to this answerWhich files can I upload?
Audio files up to 50 MB and videos up to 500 MB, up to 15 minutes each. You can also record audio with the mic in the browser.
Link to this answerWill the English sound like the original speaker?
Yes. Each speaker is re-voiced with a clone of their own voice, up to 32 speakers in one file, so a conversation keeps its back-and-forth.
Link to this answerDoes it work with Javanese or Sundanese?
No. Indonesian and Malay are source languages, but Javanese and Sundanese aren't. A few local words in Indonesian speech may pass, so check them in the result.
Link to this answerHow much does Indonesian to English voice translation cost?
3 credits per second of the source file: a 30-second voice note is 90 credits and a minute is 180. The cap is 15 minutes per file, and if a dub fails the credits are refunded automatically.
Link to this answerIs it free?
It's free to try, not free to use. New accounts get 25 free credits, about 8 seconds of speech. After that you pay by length with one-time credit packs that never expire.

Indonesian to English voice translation, explained
What makes spoken Indonesian hard to translate, and what to check in the English.
On this page
Why spoken Indonesian needs checking
Indonesian grammar leaves out things English can't: verbs don't mark tense, and the third-person pronoun 'dia' doesn't mark gender [1]. A translation engine has to fill those gaps from context, and it only hears what is in the recording, so clear, complete sentences raise accuracy more than anything else. Everyday speech also differs from the formal language [2], which is why a casual voice note is harder than a lecture.
What to check in the English
Most errors come from a few predictable places:
- Pronouns: 'dia' can come out as he or she, and 'kami' and 'kita' both become 'we' [1].
- Time: without a word such as 'sudah' or 'besok', past and future can blur.
- Titles: 'Pak', 'Bu', 'Mas' and 'Mbak' carry respect that plain English drops.
- Names, numbers and prices: worth verifying against the original, as with any language.
What happens to the original audio
The Indonesian speech is transcribed and translated, then each speaker is re-voiced in English with a clone of their voice and mixed back with the background sound [3]. Turn on Drop background audio to keep only the English voices.
Translate Inggris Indonesia voice to English
Unggah atau rekam suara berbahasa Indonesia, pilih English, lalu unduh hasilnya: suara bahasa Inggris dengan suara pembicara yang sama, bukan teks. Ini untuk file dan rekaman, bukan penerjemah langsung.

Both directions work. Upload English speech and pick Indonesian, or upload Indonesian speech and pick English. Each run makes one target language.
Translate Indonesian video to English
Videos work the same way, up to 500 MB and 15 minutes: the picture stays and the speech becomes English, in the same voices. Add lip sync for close-ups.
