Quick answer
How do you make a seamless pattern with AI?
A seamless pattern generator makes a square tile whose left edge matches its right and whose top matches its bottom, so it repeats with no visible line — for fabric, wallpaper, gift wrap or game textures. On Kenerate AI you describe the motif and ask for a “seamless repeating pattern”; Recraft 20B has a Seamless style preset, and Qwen Image 3.0 (free plan) is the model Kenerate's own game builder uses for tileable textures. Nothing checks the repeat for you, so test every tile with the offset test before you print.

Grass texture
Seamless tileable texture of short green grass with a few clover leaves, top-down view, flat even lighting, no shadows, no perspective, edge to edge.
Fix the seam (edit)
This pattern tile has a visible seam running through the middle horizontally and vertically. Remove the seam lines and continue the pattern naturally across them. Keep the outer edges, colours, motif size and spacing exactly the same.

How to use the seamless pattern generator
- Time needed
- Steps
- 4 steps
Step 1
Open Image Studio
Press “Make a pattern”. Image Studio opens on Qwen Image 3.0, a free-plan model, set to Square 1:1. For Recraft 20B, pick it and choose Style → Illustration · Seamless.
Step 2
Describe the motif
Name the motif, the layout from the table (tossed, ditsy, geometric, texture), two to four colours and “seamless repeating pattern, edge to edge, no border”.
Step 3
Run the offset test
Open the tile in any editor and offset it by half its width and half its height with wrap-around. The old edges now meet in the middle — any seam shows as a cross.
Step 4
Fix and re-test
Paint or clone over the cross, or upload the offset tile and ask an edit model to remove the seam lines. Offset again; when no line shows, the tile is seamless.

Tips
Get a tile that really repeats
What stops seams, shadows and wandering motifs from giving the repeat away.
Always say “seamless repeating pattern, edge to edge” and “no border, no vignette” — a frame or dark corners break the repeat.
Ask for flat, even lighting. One bright corner shows up as a stripe once the tile repeats.
Keep motif size even. One big motif in a sea of small ones makes the grid obvious.
Generate square (1:1). A repeat tile is almost always square.
Test every tile with the offset check before you upload it to a print shop.
Upscale the finished tile for fabric and wallpaper — print shops ask for more pixels than a screen does.

FAQ
Seamless Pattern Generator questions
9 questions
Can AI make seamless patterns?
Yes, but it isn't guaranteed. Ask for a “seamless repeating pattern, edge to edge, no border” on a square canvas and most results come close; Recraft 20B also has a Seamless style preset on Kenerate. Image models still sometimes leave a faint line or a half motif at the edge, so test each tile with the offset check before you use it.
Link to this answerHow do I check if a pattern is seamless?
Use the offset test. In Photoshop it's Filter → Other → Offset; GIMP and Photopea have an Offset command too. Move the tile by half its width and half its height with wrap-around switched on. The old edges now meet in the centre: if you see a cross-shaped line, a colour jump or cut-off motifs, the tile isn't seamless yet.
Link to this answerHow do I fix a seam?
After the offset, the seam sits in the middle where it's easy to reach. Clone or heal over it and leave the outer edges alone, then offset again to check. You can also upload the offset tile to Image Studio and ask an edit model to “remove the seam lines, continue the pattern, keep the outer edges unchanged” — edit models redraw the whole image, so always re-run the offset test after.
Link to this answerWhich model is best for seamless patterns?
Start with Qwen Image 3.0: it's on the free plan and it's the model Kenerate's own game builder picks for tileable textures. Try Recraft 20B with Style set to Illustration · Seamless for flat illustrated repeats, and Seedream 5.0 Pro for detailed illustrated prints.
Link to this answerIs the seamless pattern generator free?
Free to start. A new Kenerate account gets starter credits, and Qwen Image 3.0 is a free-plan model. Recraft, Seedream and GPT Image models use credits from one-time packs with no subscription. Downloads have no watermark.
Link to this answerWhat resolution do I need for fabric or print-on-demand?
Divide the pixels by the print shop's DPI to get the repeat size in inches: a 3,000-pixel tile at 300 DPI repeats every 10 inches. Generate at 2K, run the clean tile through the image upscaler, and check your print shop's own file rules before you upload.
Link to this answerCan I get a vector (SVG) pattern?
Not from Kenerate. Every image model here returns a PNG or JPG. Recraft offers Seamless Vector output on its own site; on Kenerate, a flat pattern with few colours can be auto-traced to vector in a vector app, while painted or photoreal textures should stay raster.
Link to this answerCan I make a half-drop or brick repeat?
Image models make a square tile. A half-drop or brick repeat is an arrangement of that tile — every other column shifted down by half — which you set in your design app or the print shop's repeat settings. Make the square tile seamless first, then choose the repeat type when you lay it out.
Link to this answerCan I sell products with AI patterns?
Kenerate adds no watermark to your downloads. Keep the design your own: don't ask for another brand's print, a licensed character or a designer's signature pattern, and check the rules of the marketplace or print shop you sell through.

Seamless Pattern Generator, explained
What works, what to avoid, and how to pick a model.
On this page
What makes a pattern seamless?
A seamless tile is a square whose left edge continues into its right edge and whose top continues into its bottom. Lay copies side by side and the eye can't find where one ends. Anything that touches only one edge — a motif cut in half, a shadow, a border, a vignette — shows up as a line once the tile repeats.
Image models draw one picture at a time, so “seamless” is an instruction, not a guarantee. Recraft describes its own Seamless styles as tileable by nature; whichever model you use, the offset test is the only proof.
How does the offset test work?
It moves the edges into the middle so you can see them:
- Open the tile in Photoshop (Filter → Other → Offset), GIMP or Photopea.
- Offset horizontally by half the width and vertically by half the height, with wrap-around on.
- Look for a cross through the centre: a line, a colour jump or cut-off motifs.
- Fix the cross with clone or healing tools, away from the outer edges, or with an edit prompt.
- Offset again. When nothing shows, fill a large canvas with the tile to see the repeat at scale.
Patterns for print or for games?
Print patterns (fabric, wallpaper, gift wrap) want a flat, graphic tile, an even spread of motifs and enough pixels for the repeat size — upscale before you upload. Game and 3D textures want a top-down view, flat even lighting and no baked-in shadows, so the engine's lights do the work.
For a 3D material, run the finished texture through the normal map generator with Seamless edges switched on, so the bumps tile as cleanly as the colour.
