How do you make a chibi with AI?

A chibi maker redraws a person, a pet or a character in the chibi (super-deformed) style: an oversized head about a third to half of the height, a tiny rounded body, big shiny eyes and only the signature details kept. On Kenerate AI you can upload a photo to AI Filter and pick the Chibi look (10 credits on the default engine, about 10–20 seconds), or describe or upload a character in Image Studio and use Seedream 5.0 Pro with the Cute Chibi style preset.

Tips

How do you get a chibi that still looks like you?

Chibi throws detail away on purpose — tell it which details to keep.

  • Use a clear, well-lit photo where the face and hair are large in the frame.

  • Name the signature details to keep: hairstyle and colour, glasses, beard, a favourite jacket or hat.

  • Give the proportions: “chibi, big head on a tiny body, about 2 heads tall”.

  • Pick a finish: flat anime with clean outlines, soft pastel, or 3D vinyl-toy chibi.

  • Say “full body, plain white background” when you want a sticker or emote you can cut out.

  • If the face drifts, switch the AI Filter engine to Kenerate Filter, built for bold style changes with the identity locked.

FAQ

Chibi AI Generator questions

What is chibi style?

Chibi, also called super deformed (SD), is a Japanese anime and manga style that draws characters tiny and chubby: an oversized head that takes up about a third to half of the height, stubby limbs, big eyes and very little detail. Signature traits such as an unusual hairstyle or an accessory are kept and exaggerated.

How do I turn my photo into a chibi?

Open Kenerate AI Filter, upload one clear photo, pick the Chibi look under Anime & Cartoon and press Apply. On the default engine, Qwen Image 3, it costs 10 credits and takes about 10–20 seconds. If the result looks too little like you, try the Kenerate Filter engine, which re-renders with your identity locked.

Can I turn my own character into a chibi?

Yes. In Image Studio, attach your character art as a reference in Seedream 5.0 Pro (up to 10 references) or Nano Banana 2.1 (up to 14) and write: “a chibi version of this exact character — same hair, eye colour, outfit and accessories — big head, tiny body, about 2 heads tall, full body, white background”.

Is the chibi maker free?

Free to start. A new Kenerate account gets 25 credits on sign-up — enough for two AI Filter chibis on the default engine — and Qwen Image 3.0 is on the free plan. After that, credits come in one-time packs with no subscription. Downloads carry no watermark.

Will my chibi still look like me?

Partly, by design: chibi simplifies faces, so it keeps your hairstyle, hair colour, glasses, beard and outfit more than your exact features. Use a sharp, front-lit photo with your face large in the frame, and name the details to keep. Kenerate Filter is the AI Filter engine built for bold style changes with the identity locked.

Can I make chibi stickers or emotes?

Yes. Ask for “full body, plain white background, clean outlines”, then remove the background with Kenerate's background remover (from 1.2 credits) to get a transparent PNG. For a set of emotes, keep one chibi as a reference in Nano Banana 2.1 and change only the expression: happy, crying, angry, thumbs up.

Can I make a 3D chibi?

Yes. Write “3D chibi figure, vinyl toy look, soft studio light” in Image Studio, or add the 3D Animation preset. For a real 3D model you can rotate or print, make a clean front view first and use Kenerate's image-to-3D converter.

Can I animate a chibi?

Yes. Use the chibi image as the first frame in Kenerate's image-to-video tool and describe a small movement — a wave, a hop, a head tilt. Video needs a paid plan.

Can I make a chibi of someone else?

Only with photos of yourself or of adults who agreed, and keep it friendly. Don't upload photos of strangers or celebrities. For couples or groups, make each person separately and put the chibis together afterwards.

Chibi AI Generator, explained

What works, what to avoid, and how to pick a model.

What makes a chibi a chibi?

A typical anime character is about seven to eight heads tall; a chibi is about two to three. The head gets most of the space, the eyes get huge, the nose shrinks to a dot, and small details like folds and buttons disappear. What stays is whatever makes the character recognisable: the hairstyle, the colours, one accessory.

That is why a chibi prompt should list what to keep. The model will throw detail away either way — you choose which detail survives.
