AI Christmas Decorations — see your house, room or tree decorated first
Upload a photo of the front of your house, your living room or a bare tree, and an AI edit shows it decorated for Christmas — warm lights along the roofline, a wreath on the door, a dressed tree, garland on the mantel. Or describe a tree or a decor scheme and see it from text. It's a picture to plan from, not a shopping list.

Quick answer
How can AI show my house decorated for Christmas?
To see your house decorated for Christmas with AI, upload a photo of the front of your home — or your living room, mantel or a bare tree — to an AI image editor, describe the decorations (“warm white lights along the roofline, a wreath on the door, lit garland around the porch”) and say what must stay the same. Kenerate's AI Christmas decorations tool opens Image Studio with a full roofline-lights instruction filled in; Qwen Image 3.0 runs it on the free plan for 9.9 credits per edit, or 9 for a Christmas tree from text. The result is a visual preview to plan from: it doesn't measure your roof, count light strands or make a shopping list.

What can AI decorate for Christmas? Ideas and the words that get them
Paste the prompt words into the editor after your photo is added, set the size to your photo's shape, and always end with what must stay the same — “keep the house, windows, roof and camera angle exactly the same”.
| Decorate | What you upload | Prompt words | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lights on the roofline | A photo of your house front | Warm white C9 bulb lights along the roofline, gutters and peaks, evening blue-hour sky so the lights glow | Say “warm white” or “multicolour” — the model picks for you if you don't |
| Full outdoor light display | A photo of your house front | Icicle lights along the eaves, net lights over the bushes, lit candy-cane markers along the path, a wreath on every upstairs window | A dusk photo gives the most believable glow; on a daytime photo add “evening, lights on” |
| Front door and porch | A photo of your door or porch | Oversized pine wreath with a red velvet bow, lit garland around the door frame, two lanterns, potted spruce trees either side, red doormat | Add “keep the door colour and house number the same” |
| Dress a bare tree | A photo of your undecorated tree | Dress this tree with warm white fairy lights, red and gold glass baubles, a gold star topper, red ribbon spiralling down, wrapped presents underneath | Add “keep the tree's shape, size and stand the same” so it doesn't grow or move |
| Christmas tree from text | Nothing — text only | A tall flocked white Christmas tree with silver and pale blue ornaments, warm white lights and a silver star, in a bright Scandinavian living room | Text-only runs as text-to-image (9 credits on Qwen Image 3.0) |
| Living room | A photo of your living room | Lit tree in the corner, pine garland with lights along the shelves, plaid throw on the sofa, candles in glass jars, warm evening light | Add “keep the furniture, walls and layout the same” — you're decorating, not redesigning |
| Mantel and fireplace | A photo of your fireplace | Fresh pine garland with pinecones and warm fairy lights along the mantel, three red knit stockings, brass candlesticks, a small wreath above | Say how many stockings you want, or the model picks a number |
| Window or balcony | A photo of your window or balcony | Warm white curtain lights in the window, a paper star lantern, a small wreath on the balcony rail, light snow on the ledge | Good for flats and rentals: nothing goes on the roof |
| Compare colour schemes | The same photo, three times | Classic red and gold · silver and ice blue · natural wood, greenery and warm white | Run the same photo once per palette and compare. Write “ice blue” or “pale blue” — “baby blue” is blocked by the filter |

What keeps the AI decorating your house instead of redrawing it.
Shoot straight on, in good light, with the whole roofline or the whole tree in frame — the model can't decorate what isn't in the picture.
Set the size to your photo's own shape (4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 for a house, 3:4 for a tree). A square crop of a wide house front cuts the ends off.
Say where each thing goes — “along the gutters”, “around the door frame”, “on the mantel” — rather than listing decorations.
End with what must not change: “keep the house shape, roof, windows, door and camera angle exactly the same”. If a window moves or a gable appears, run it again.
Treat the picture as a mood board. Measure your roofline and check the light packaging yourself before you buy anything.
The prompt filter blocks child words, even in harmless phrases — “baby blue”, “kids' room”, “minor changes”. Write “pale blue”, “playroom”, “small changes” or “family-friendly” instead.

FAQ
AI Christmas Decorations questions
10 questions
Can AI put Christmas lights on my house?
Yes, in a picture — think of it as an AI Christmas light designer for your own photo. Upload a photo of the front of your house and press Create: Image Studio opens with an instruction already filled in — warm white lights along the roofline, gutters and windows, a wreath on the door, lit garland around the door frame, blue-hour sky — and keeps the house shape, roof, windows and camera angle the same. Swap the words for multicolour bulbs, icicle lights or net lights on the bushes.
Link to this answerIs the AI Christmas decorations tool free?
Free to start. Sign in with Google, GitHub or Discord — no card — and a new account gets 25 credits. Qwen Image 3.0, the default here, is on the free plan: an edit of your photo costs 9.9 credits and a tree from text costs 9, so the starter credits cover two previews. GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, Nano Banana 2.1 and Seedream 5.0 Pro use credits from one-time packs; the Starter pack is $15 for 1,300 credits, with no subscription.
Link to this answerCan AI decorate my Christmas tree from a photo?
Yes. Upload a photo of your bare tree and write “dress this tree with warm white fairy lights, red and gold glass baubles, a gold star topper and red ribbon; keep the tree's shape, size and stand the same”. Run it again with another palette to compare before you buy ornaments.
Link to this answerIs there an AI Christmas tree generator from text?
Yes — skip the photo and describe the tree: type (flocked, slim, tabletop, real fir), lights, ornament colours, topper and the room around it. It runs as text-to-image: 9 credits on Qwen Image 3.0 or 7.2 on GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst at 1K. Seedream 5.0 Pro is good for painterly or illustrated trees.
Link to this answerWill it tell me how many lights I need?
No. It's a visual preview, not a light-layout plan: it doesn't measure your roofline, count strands, check wattage or tell you where the clips go, and the lights it draws may not match a product you can buy. Measure the runs yourself and follow each set's label — NFPA says to read the manufacturer's instructions for how many strands to connect and to use lights listed by a qualified testing laboratory, as some are indoor- or outdoor-only.
Link to this answerWhy did the AI change my house?
Edits sometimes redraw parts of the photo — an extra window, a new gable, a different door. End the prompt with “keep the house shape, roof, windows, door, driveway and camera angle exactly the same”, use a sharp straight-on photo, and run it again. GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst makes more precise edits, and Nano Banana 2.1 at 4K keeps more fine detail on a large house front.
Link to this answerCan I try different colour schemes on the same photo?
Yes — run the same photo once per palette: classic red and gold, silver and ice blue, or natural wood and greenery with warm white lights. Write “ice blue” or “pale blue”: the prompt filter blocks the word “baby”, so “baby blue” won't run.
Link to this answerCan I decorate my living room, mantel or apartment window?
Yes. Upload the room, the fireplace or the window and say where each decoration goes — “garland along the mantel”, “curtain lights in the window”, “lit tree in the corner” — plus “keep the furniture, walls and layout the same”. To change the furniture or the whole style of the room, use the AI interior design generator or the AI room planner instead.
Link to this answerWhy was my decoration prompt blocked?
The filter blocks child words and ages under 18 in every prompt, including harmless phrases: “baby blue”, “kids' room”, “kid-friendly”, “minor changes” or a number before “years”. Write “pale blue”, “playroom”, “family-friendly” or “small changes” and run it again.
Link to this answerCan I turn the decorated house into a Christmas card?
Yes. Make the decorated picture here, then add a greeting: GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst writes the words you put in quotes, e.g. add “Season's greetings from our house” in cream script across the sky. For a full card layout and print sizes, use the AI Christmas card generator.

AI Christmas Decorations, explained
What works, what to avoid, and how to pick a model.
On this page
How does AI decorate a photo of my house?
It's an instruction edit. Your photo and one paragraph go to an image model's edit endpoint; the model draws the lights, wreaths, garland and ornaments onto the house or room where you said, adds the glow they would cast, and leaves the rest of the picture as it was.
Because the model works from the picture alone, it guesses what it can't see — the back of the roof, the inside of a porch. Say what must stay the same, and run it again if something moves.
What can't an AI Christmas decoration preview tell you?
The picture shows a look, nothing more. It won't give you:
- Measurements: roofline length, gutter runs, tree height — measure them yourself.
- A strand count, wattage or a product list. The bulbs it draws may not exist as a product.
- How the lights are mounted: clips, hooks and outlet positions aren't part of the picture.
- Safety: NFPA says to use lights listed by a qualified testing laboratory, check whether a set is indoor- or outdoor-only, follow the maker's limit on connected strands, keep a tree at least three feet from any heat source and turn tree lights off before bed or leaving home.
- CPSC adds: never string together more than three sets of incandescent lights, never overload outlets, water live trees and look for the “fire resistant” label on artificial ones.
How do I write a Christmas decoration prompt?
Five parts are enough:
- Where: “along the roofline and gutters”, “around the door frame”, “on the mantel”, “in the corner by the window”.
- What lights: warm white or multicolour; C9 bulbs, icicle, net, curtain or fairy lights.
- What else: wreath, garland, stockings, lanterns, baubles in two or three colours, a topper.
- The time of day: “evening blue hour, lights on” makes lights glow; a daytime look keeps them subtle.
- What must not change: “keep the house shape, roof, windows, door and camera angle exactly the same”.
