One picture, every turn and flip
An AI-generated 1080 × 608 painting, turned and flipped. Each label gives the size that comes out, and nothing else was changed.

All three look wrong, in different ways. A 180° turn moves the rock to the other side as well as the top. Flip V only swaps top and bottom, and Flip H only swaps left and right.

Tips
Rotate a photo without losing quality
Small habits that keep a turned picture clean.
Do all your turning before you download. Turns with the studio's canvas code didn't change a single pixel in our test.
Choose PNG if you want the exact pixels. JPG and WebP are smaller, but they change the picture slightly every time you save.
Don't keep rotating a downloaded JPG and saving it again. Go back to your first file instead.
Rotate before you crop. A sideways photo is much easier to frame the right way up.
Check text in the picture. Backwards words mean you pressed a flip, not a turn.
Remember that a 90° turn swaps width and height, so a wide banner becomes a tall one.

FAQ
Image Rotator questions
10 questions
How do I rotate a photo online?
Open Kenerate's Edit Studio, add the photo and choose Crop & Rotate. Press Left or Right until it's the right way up, then download it. It takes about a minute and uses no credits.
Link to this answerIs this image rotator free?
Yes. Rotate, flip and crop use no credits and add no watermark. You need a free account to load your own photo. AI tools in the same studio, such as Expand Image, use credits, and new accounts get starter credits.
Link to this answerCan I rotate a picture by a custom angle, like 45°?
Not the photo itself. It turns in 90° steps, so there's no degree box or straighten slider, and it can't level a slightly tilted horizon. Text, shapes and stickers added on top do have a rotation slider from −180° to 180°. If you need a photo at an exact angle, several other rotators offer one.
Link to this answerHow do I rotate an image 180 degrees?
Press Right twice, or Left twice. The picture ends up upside down at the same size. That's different from Flip V, which mirrors it top to bottom.
Link to this answerDoes rotating an image reduce quality?
A right-angle turn doesn't. In our test of the studio's canvas code, four 90° turns changed 0 pixels, because each pixel only moves to a new place. Quality only changes when you save as JPG or WebP. PNG keeps every pixel.
Link to this answerWhy is my photo sideways in one app but fine in another?
Phones often store a photo one way and add a small EXIF tag saying how to display it. Apps that ignore the tag show it sideways. Turning the photo and downloading it saves the pixels in the right position, so it no longer depends on that tag.
Link to this answerDo I need to sign up to rotate a photo?
Yes, for your own photos. Edit Studio opens without an account, but loading an image of yours needs a free sign-in. If you want a rotator with no account at all, several other sites offer one.
Link to this answerAre my photos uploaded?
Yes. The turn happens in your browser, but when you're signed in, your photo and its versions are saved to your Kenerate workspace so you can come back to them. If a picture must never leave your device, use your phone's or computer's own photo app.
Link to this answerCan I rotate many images at once?
No. Rotate works on one photo at a time, and Batch edit in the same studio doesn't include it.
Link to this answerWill text and stickers turn with the photo?
Yes. Any text, shapes and stickers you've added move with the photo when you rotate or flip it, so your layout stays together.

What works, what to avoid, and how to pick a model.

What we measured
We ran the same canvas code the studio uses in a real browser, on a 1080 × 608 picture and an odd-sized 1600 × 1073 photo. These are local tests of that code, not screenshots from the studio:
- Four right turns: 0 pixels changed, at both sizes.
- Right then left, and two flips in a row: 0 pixels changed.
- Saved once as JPG: 219 KB. 90% of pixels shifted a little, and the largest change was 17 out of 255.
- Saved once as WebP: 128 KB. 64% of pixels shifted a little, and the largest change was 11 out of 255.
- Rotated, saved and reopened 20 times as JPG: the largest change grew to 42 out of 255.
- The same 20 rounds as WebP: the largest change grew to 43 out of 255.
What that means for your photo
A right-angle turn doesn't blur anything. Every pixel moves to a new place and keeps its colour, so you can turn a picture as often as you like before you download it.
The small changes come from saving. JPG and WebP throw away a little detail to make the file smaller, and the studio saves both at 95% quality. Repeated saves slowly add up, so rotate first and download once.
How do you rotate a picture on a phone or computer?
You don't always need a website. Your device's own photo app can do a simple turn, and the file stays on your device:
- iPhone: open the photo in Photos, tap Edit, tap Crop, then tap the Rotate button. Each tap turns it 90°.
- Windows: open the photo in Photos, choose Edit image (Ctrl+E), then pick Crop to find the rotate options. Menu names can vary by version. It can also turn by smaller angles.
- Any browser: use Edit Studio as shown above when you also want to crop, add text or use AI tools on the same picture.
Why photos end up sideways
A phone often saves the picture the way the sensor sees it and adds an EXIF orientation tag that says how to show it. Browsers follow that tag by default: a test JPEG stored at 608 × 1080 with a turn tag opened as 1080 × 608 in Edge.
Some apps and older tools ignore the tag, so the same file looks sideways there. A rotated file from the studio has its pixels in the right position, so it doesn't rely on the tag.
Rotate, flip or change the angle: which one do you need?
These get mixed up, and each one does something different:
- Rotate turns the whole picture around its centre. Use it when a photo is sideways or upside down.
- Flip mirrors the picture, so any words in it read backwards. Use it to change which way a subject faces.
- Camera Angle uses AI to show the scene from another side. The new view is invented, not recovered.
