AI waifu generator — design an original adult anime character
Describe an original anime character — who she is, her hair and eyes, her outfit and the art style — and an anime-specialist model draws her. Then keep the same character across new outfits, scenes and a reference sheet. Adults only; husbandos too.

Quick answer
How do I make my own waifu with AI?
An AI waifu generator draws an original anime character from your description. To make one, describe an adult character in a few parts — her role, hair and eyes, outfit, the setting and the anime style — and generate. On Kenerate, Neta Lumina, an anime-specialist model, makes one image for 3 credits; Seedream 5.0 Pro and Nano Banana 2.1 then keep the same character across new pictures from your first image. Characters must be adults, and outfits stay SFW.

Archetypes
Waifu archetypes, and the words that draw them
Start from a role, not a body: the role decides the outfit, the setting and the pose. Every prompt names an adult age range.
| Archetype | Design notes | Prompt words |
|---|---|---|
| Knight captain | Armour, a cape, a confident stance | an adult woman in her late twenties, a knight captain, short silver hair, polished steel armour with a blue cape, confident smile |
| Café owner | Apron, warm light, a relaxed smile | an adult woman in her early thirties who runs a cosy café, long chestnut hair in a loose bun, green apron over a cream sweater |
| Sorceress | Robes, a spell circle, night sky | a tall adult woman, a sorceress with long black hair and violet eyes, violet robes with gold embroidery, a glowing spell circle |
| Detective | Trench coat, rain, 90s cel shading | an adult woman detective in her thirties, short dark bob, beige trench coat, a rainy city street, 1990s TV anime cel style |
| Mecha pilot | Flight jacket, hangar, a giant robot behind | an adult woman test pilot in her late twenties, short red hair, flight jacket over a grey pilot suit, an original giant robot in a hangar |
| Kitsune spirit | Fox ears, a long kimono, a shrine at dusk | an adult kitsune spirit woman with fox ears and nine glowing tails, a long red kimono, a torii gate at dusk |
| Husbando: swordsman | A long ponytail, a haori, cherry blossoms | an adult man in his thirties, a calm swordsman with a long dark ponytail, navy haori, a katana at his side, cherry blossoms |

Tips
Design a waifu that looks like one character, not a template
What makes an original character memorable — and keeps her adult and SFW.
Write the age range into every prompt: “an adult woman in her late twenties” — it keeps faces and proportions adult.
Pick one role first (knight, café owner, pilot); it gives you the outfit, setting and pose for free.
Give her two fixed traits to repeat every time — say silver hair and grey eyes — so she stays recognisable.
Name the art style: “clean line art, cel shading”, “1990s TV anime cel”, “soft painterly anime”.
Keep outfits practical and SFW — armour, coats, aprons, robes. Skip school uniforms and chibi styles.
Once you like one image, switch to Seedream 5.0 Pro or Nano Banana 2.1 and attach it to keep her the same.

FAQ
AI Waifu Generator questions
8 questions
What is a waifu?
“Waifu” comes from the English word “wife”, said the Japanese way, and fans use it for their favourite female anime character; the male version is “husbando”. A waifu generator lets you design your own original one instead of picking an existing character.

Describe an adult character in a few parts — her role, age range, hair and eyes, outfit, setting and the art style — and generate. For example: “an adult woman in her late twenties, a knight captain with short silver hair, steel armour and a blue cape, clean line art, cel shading”. On Kenerate the button above opens Image Studio with Neta Lumina picked.
Link to this answerIs the waifu generator free?
Free to start. A new Kenerate account gets starter credits, and Qwen Image 3.0 is on the free plan. Neta Lumina, the anime model used here, costs 3 credits an image and Prefect Pony XL 4.5; credits come in one-time packs, with no subscription. Downloads have no watermark.
Link to this answerHow do I keep my waifu looking the same in every picture?
Make one image you like, then switch to a model that takes reference images — Seedream 5.0 Pro (up to 10) or Nano Banana 2.1 (up to 14) — attach it and describe only what changes: “the same woman in a winter coat in a snowy street”. Repeating two fixed traits in every prompt, such as silver hair and grey eyes, helps too. For a full reference sheet and new scenes, see the OC maker.
Link to this answerCan I make a husbando?
Yes. Describe an adult man the same way — role, age range, hair, outfit, style — for example “an adult man in his thirties, a calm swordsman with a long dark ponytail, navy haori, cherry blossoms”. The same models and the same consistency steps work.
Link to this answerAre there rules for waifu characters?
Yes. Characters must be adults: write an adult age range in the prompt and avoid childlike proportions, chibi bodies and school uniforms. Kenerate refuses prompts with words about minors, such as “teen”, “schoolgirl”, “loli” or an age under 18. Keep this generator SFW, and don't recreate copyrighted characters — design your own.
Link to this answerCan I generate a character from an existing anime?
We don't recommend it: characters from anime and games belong to their studios, and this page is for original designs. You can borrow a broad style instead — “1990s TV anime cel style” or “soft painterly anime” — and give your character her own name, look and story.
Link to this answerCan I animate my waifu or make a reference sheet?
Yes, with other Kenerate tools. Use the image as the start frame in image to video to animate her — video is priced per second — or make a front, side and back sheet with the character turnaround tool. The OC maker walks through the whole sheet-and-scenes workflow.

AI Waifu Generator, explained
What works, what to avoid, and how to pick a model.
On this page
Where does the word “waifu” come from?
It's the English word “wife” in Japanese pronunciation. Its earliest known use is in the 2002 anime Azumanga Daioh, where a teacher calls his wife his “waifu”, and fans took it from there for a favourite female character. “Husbando”, built the same way from “husband”, came later.
A waifu generator turns that idea into design: instead of choosing a character someone else made, you describe your own — and you own the idea.
How do I write a waifu prompt?
Six parts, in this order:
- Who and how old: “an adult woman in her late twenties”.
- Role: “a knight captain”, “a café owner”, “a test pilot”.
- Two fixed traits: hair and eyes — “short silver hair, grey eyes”.
- Outfit: “polished steel armour and a blue cape”.
- Setting and framing: “castle courtyard at sunset, full body”.
- Style: “clean line art, cel shading”, or “1990s TV anime cel style”.
From one picture to a character you can reuse
A single image is a sketch; a character is the same person every time. The steps that get you there:
- Generate on Neta Lumina until one image feels right.
- Attach it to Seedream 5.0 Pro or Nano Banana 2.1 and ask for “the same woman” in a new outfit or scene.
- Make a front, side and back reference sheet and keep it with your prompts.
- Reuse the same two fixed traits and style words in every new prompt.
